Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 22nd - 28th January 2024
Every day in the UK, 2 women lose their lives to cervical cancer and 9 more receive a life-changing diagnosis.
Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust are working towards a day where cervical cancer is a thing of the past.
HPV vaccinations, cervical screening, and treatment for cell changes can all help prevent cervical cancer, and we want to programmes to be as effective and accessible as possible. Jo's Trust are calling for the Government to commit to eliminating cervical cancer, and to commit to providing the investment and resourcing needed for all the services that help to prevent cervical cancer.
Cervical screening is a free health test that helps prevent cervical cancer. It checks for a virus called high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) and, if you have HPV, cervical cell changes (abnormal cells).
If you would like to book your cervical screening test, please contact the surgery. If it's your first time booking, haven't been for a while or have any questions, please call the surgery and we will be happy to arrange a telephone consultation with one of our nurses who will be able to answer any of your questions.
Jo's Trust also provide some top tips that you may find handy to know prior to booking your appointment and you can find these here: Jo's Trust Cervical Screening Tips
