MB ChB Dr Alison Horton MBChB. Qualified from University of Leicester in 1994. Likes running and spending time in the countryside ( preferably both at the same time!)
MBBS, MS (ENT), DLO I went to medical school in India. After completing undergraduate degree, I did 3 year post-graduate degree in ENT surgery. I worked independently as an ENT surgeon in India. I completed my GP training from beautiful Dumfriesshire in 2005. I moved to this area in 2006 and have been at Clifton Court ever since.
Clinical Nurse practitioners
Has been a Paramedic since 1993, serving in the Royal Air Force then North East Ambulance Service, latterly as Team Leader on rapid response cars. I have completed all the major trauma care courses and have a Diploma in Law from Northumbria University. I left the Ambulance Service to work in Bishop Auckland Urgent Care as a Practitioner after completing Physical Assessment Skills course at Teesside University. I have a Post Graduate Certificate from Northumbria University in Mentoring, Minor and Major Illness and Injury. I am interested in Men's health, Skin complaints and hand problems, and development of student paramedics.
Paramedic and Clinical Practitioner
Qualified with a Bachelor of Nursing from Napier University in Edinburgh in 2001 Amanda is our Lead Practice Nurse. She has worked at Clifton Court since 2015. Amanda specialises in diabetes and coronary heart disease. She also runs our weekly family planning clinic and has an interest in all aspect of womens' health. Amanda manages our nursing team and has recently achieved prescribing qualification.
I have been a Practice Nurse at Clifton court Medical Practice for 10 years. My particular interest is in Respiratory and Diabetes care. I also do cervical screening, childhood immunisations, wound dressings and phlebotomy.
Health Care Assistants
Vicky has been a Health Care Assistant at Clifton Court Medical Practice since 2008, she has completed her care certicicate and is the HCA Lead for Coronary Heart Disease, as well as her other roles which include phlebotomy, Health checks, Spirometry, blood Pressures and assisting GPs with Minor Operations and family planning

Our administration staff will arrange appointments either by phone or face to face, order repeat prescriptions and help with any queries.
Additional healthcare staff
District Nurses are responsible for care in the home. We have a team of district nurses attached to the practice. If you are housebound and need nursing assistance , your doctor or the hospital will arrange for them to visit you.
We have a team of community midwives attached to the practice. They look after all the pregnant ladies and visit newborn babies at home.
We have trained counsellors who run weekly sessions at the surgery. Patients need to be referred by their doctor.
We have an advisor who attends the surgery every Tuesday who will offer advice if you are suffering a long term health condition or disability which is preventing you from working or from returning to your job. Ask the receptionist for an appointment or information about this service.
An advisor from CAB is in the surgery on a Thursday morning. They will help and advise with many problems, debt, legal etc. Ask the receptionist for an appointment or information about this service.
